Winter Breakfast Oatmeal Recipe

The hardest thing about mornings at this time of year is getting out of your cosy bed into the chilly winter air! That’s why I love this spiced apple oatmeal. It’s cosy and delicious, and helps you warm up from the inside out.

SERVES 1

Spiced Apple Oatmeal

Ingredients:
1/2 apple
1/2 cup oats
turmeric powder to taste
pinch of Himalayan salt
cinnamon powder to taste
1 tbsp flax seeds
apple pie spice to taste
nut butter (optional)

Method:
Core the apple, then cut most of it into small bite-sized cubes, reserving a few larger slices for garnish.
Bring 1 to 2 cups of water (depending on how wet you like your oatmeal) to a boil on the stove, then add the apple cubes.
After about a minute, add the oatmeal, turmeric, salt, cinnamon, and flax seeds. Stir well to combine. Cook for one to two more minutes, then add apple pie spice to taste. If it’s not quite done yet, cook for another minute or two.
Pour the oatmeal into a bowl. Garnish with apple slices, cinnamon powder, and optionally nut butter.
